As I write this, it’s the eve of the 77th Golden Globe Awards. Stylists across the world have been prepping, organising, possibly sewing clothes for their famous clients to strut down the Golden Globe Awards red carpet. Somewhere in LA, Billy Porter is probably having some kind of makeup applied, sequins stitched and garments steamed ready to make his way down the carpet.

Apart from Cannes Film Festival, award season has to be the most spectacular time of the year for celebrity fashion. Ready-to-wear, couture and everything in between is sent down miles of red carpet. Right from the Golden Globes, the first of the season, it’ll be easy to spot the fashion front runners. Last year, it was Billy Porter. He dominated headlines, blogs and social media. He did things none of us had really seen before - he actually pushed boundaries. Not once, but many many times.
2019 was Billy’s year. Pose, the FX TV show he is leading man in, won notoriety, and so did his LEWKS. His faithful stylist, Sam Ratelle, really pulled out every stop. He did his job and then some! I can say for myself, and many of my friends, we were left just STUNNED at Billy’s bravery.
